Our client is an international OEM in the industrial manufacturing sector with additional operational footprint in the aftermarket sector. The company is establishing their new Global Procurement Hub in Schaffhausen and therefore looking for a Category Manager (m/f) to strengthen their newly established team.

The key responsibilities for the position as a Category Manager (m/f) are:

• Develop, lead and execute the company's strategic sourcing program for assigned categories
• Establish goals in alignment with supply chain and company business objectives, measuring and reporting progress against objectives
• Lead category-sourcing teams in the development of category sourcing strategies
• Facilitate the development of strong relationships with internal business partners understanding their individual business needs and ensure category-sourcing strategies are aligned with the company's overall business plan and unit level objectives
• Develop a strong expertise for assigned categories
• Conduct a thorough analysis of company's current and future material and services spend
• Collect and organize related specifications and standards as well as understand current market trends and conditions
• Build and maintain profiles of supply market and key suppliers
• Perform the required due diligence related to the assessment of prospective suppliers, executing requests for proposal/pricing, negotiating contracts, and ensuring effective transition to new suppliers
• Use financial analysis and modeling to evaluate supplier proposals
• Work directly with suppliers to establish supplier improvement programs and establish strategic alliances where appropriate
• Negotiate and lead contracts with key suppliers
• Facilitate the resolution of supplier quality issues
• Prepare bid requests using eProcurement tools

The successful selected candidate for the position should have the following requirements and competencies:

• Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business or transportation/Logistics Management or in another relevant field (Master's Degree would be a plus)
• Professional certifications such as Certified Purchasing and Supply Chain Manager (CPSM) would be great
• More than 7 years of business relevant experience in supply chain and category management
• Analytical and problem solving mindset to manage diverse information and solve problematic situations
• Profound experience in project management to initiate and lead project teams
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as the ability to lead a team in a matrix environment with a positive spirit
• Solid experience in change management to develop implementable changes
• Quality management to be able to improve and promote quality
• Strategic and business relevant thinking to reach the defined goals and increased the profitability
• Very good oral and written communication skills in English (German and French would be a plus)
• IT Skills: MS Office, Project Management and Manufacturing Software, ERP software knowledge in procurement, logistics, inventory etc.
